If you just want to have a great pet, there is nothing better than a wether (i.e., a castrated male). They are quiet, clean and just the most personable animals around. Wethers are available and prices vary depending on the age of the animal. When you think about buying a Nigerian Dwarf goat, please always plan on getting two since they are very social animals and need the companionship. Often folks will start with a doe and a wether, or, if they just want pets, two wethers.
